Congratulations to Erik Dickinson who was elected to be our Editor-in-Chief for 2012-2013!. Erik is a 2L from Waterford Michigan and a graduate of Purdue University. After his first year at Cleveland-Marshall, Erik clerked for the Honorable Kirsten Frank Kelly of the Michigan Court of Appeals.
Volume 2, Issue 1 is now available by clicking on the "Publications" tab at the top of this page. This issue recaps our highly successful 2011 Symposium on abritration trends and developments plus includes a timely analysis of jurisdictional questions related to e-commerce. The timing of the release of this issue coincides with the passing of a true giant in the field of International Arbitration, Hans Smit. The authors of this issue and the staff of The Global Business Law Review dedicate their work on this piece to him and his life's mission. You may read more about Professor Smit and leave a memorial by visiting Columbia Law's website.
Along with publishing Vol 2, Issue 1, The Global Business Law Review accomplished a great deal in Fall 2011. We established an online complement, "In the Balance", which is generating feedback that will only grow as we expand our reach; we created a new brand for the journal and design for the publication; we adopted a family for the holidays; we had our largest fundraiser to date; we hosted a very well attended 1L social; we sponsored a speaker at the Greater Cleveland International Lawyers Group October 2011 meeting; and had an acceptance rate of over 60% of offers to authors for our next issue.
